Cynthia was able to begin her career when she moved to New York and pursuing a job as a fashion model. Cynthia was soon signed to a 5-year contract for five years with Wihelmina Models, which led her to an extremely successful debut book that was the cover for Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence initial cover not only became one of its most sold covers but was also Susan Taylor's preferred. In the following days, Cynthia booked her second cover, and established the tone for her successful career. Next, she moved on to Paris in addition to Milan. There, she appeared on the runways for Paris Fashion Week as well as Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was a former resident of overseas for nearly one year, returned to New York City where she was very in demand. The campaigns with Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's and Macy's were among her first assignments. Vogue editorials followed, along with Glamour magazine Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. Cynthia's career was helped by getting picked before Naomi Campbell for the co-starring character in "Without You I'm Not Anything" opposite Sandra Bernhadt.
